Driving to Success, 2007

A Happy Kick-Off took place on June 15th

Boys & Girls Club of Hilton Head Island

2007 Driving to Success Car Show

The Boys & Girls Club with the help of the Lowcountry Oyster & Motorcar Driving Society, the Coastal Empire Region of PCA, Corvettes of Hilton Head and the Carolina Dreamers were able to bring their dream of a car show in their parking lot to life. The Car Show is the start of the Driving to Success program, which over the next few months will have trips to local businesses where owners and children meet and speak. The program ends when the Concours d'Elegance of Hilton Head presents each child who attends the program a ticket for the Saturday, November 3, 2007 Car Club Jamboree at historic Honey Horn.

Motivational Program

Driving to Success is a program to teach young children the value of saving, respect for others, the importance of studying and having focus in their lives. The car clubs came together to help by bringing old, new, classic, exotic and fun cars for the children to view. It was an inspiration to the children and is a strong motivational tool used to project a message taught by example. The car show's example is a simple one – stay true to the values set before you, and you can achieve anything you dream in life.

Successful Collection

During an After-the-Show BBQ, given by the Boys & Girls Club, a box was passed around to the attendees and $500 was collected to help keep the Driving To Success 2007 program alive and well.

Our Appreciation

Special thanks to: Harvey Geiger, who brought an example of this program to The Boys & Girls Club of Hilton Head; Diane Lee, and Bill and Joyce Wright, who cooked and served the BBQ; Jim Fearon for sharing his photographs; and all the car club members who took their time to help join in and make the car show a success.
